It was a Saturday afternoon. Suki was in her bed, in a
deep peaceful sleep. The sun shined brightly through her
bedroom window. A knock on her door woke her up. She opened
her eyes and sat up, hunched on her elbows as her bedroom
door opened. Her mother stood there for a few minutes
staring at her, then she spoke softly.
“Suki darling, get up. You’re going to be late.”
“What time is it mom?”, Suki asked.
“It’s 1:30. You better get dressed. Your sister’s
birthday party starts in an hour.”, her mother said briefly,
and then closed the door.
